The Integration and Application Network worked with the Healthy Reefs Initiative to produce a report on the health of the Mesoamerican Reef. The report evaluates the health of the reef using key indicators and calculating an Integrated Reef Health Index. The report also evaluates the human footprint and social well-being of the local community. Finally, it provides recommendations for government, NGOs, private, and research sectors for future work.

The Integration and Application Network is working closely with Melanie McField, coordinator for the Healthy Reefs for Healthy People Initiative, to produce a report card on the health of the Mesoamerican Reef. Melanie came to IAN for a week of intensive data analysis and synthesis, and product layout and design. The report card will highlight coral and reef biota health and describe human pressures on the system. Look for the final report in the upcoming months. For more detailed reports on the indicators and methodology used, go to www.healthyreefs.org.
