Purple-striped Jelly (Chrysaora colorata) Purple-striped jellies mysteriously appear near the shores of Monterey in certain seasons. Young cancer crabs are often found clinging to these jellies, even inside the gut. The crab helps the jelly by eating parasitic amphipods.
