Weather; cyclone (S Hemisphere)
Illustration of a hurricane, or tropical cyclone: a storm system characterized by a low pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and flooding rain. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by names such as hurricane, typhoon, tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone. Has counterclockwise rotation in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise rotation in the Southern Hemisphere due to the Coriolis Effect.

Moon: new Illustration of the moon undergoing phases: new moon. The Moon, in its monthly orbital motion around Earth, lies between Earth and the Sun, and is therefore in conjunction with the Sun as seen from Earth. At this time, the dark (unilluminated) portion of the Moon faces almost directly toward Earth, so that the Moon is not visible to the naked eye. symbol, vector, illustration, meteorology, atmosphere, sky, tide, tidal, effect, moon, lunar, space, night Moon: waning gibbous Illustration of the moon undergoing phases; waning (decreasing in size) gibbous (name of shape), heading towards a new moon. symbol, vector, illustration, meteorology, atmosphere, sky, tide, tidal, effect, moon, lunar, space, night Moon: waxing crescent Illustration of the moon undergoing phases; waxing (increasing) crescent (shape), heading towards a full moon. symbol, vector, illustration, meteorology, atmosphere, sky, tide, tidal, effects, lunar, moon, space, night Weather; cyclone (S Hemisphere) Illustration of a hurricane, or tropical cyclone: a storm system characterized by a low pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and flooding rain. Composed of supercooled liquid droplets (if they freeze, becomes cirrostratus - cirrocumuli are short lived) Each cloudlet appears no larger than a finger held at arms length. It occurs in patches or sheets, organized in rows like other cumulus, but since they are so small, cirrocumulus patches take on a finer appearance, sometimes referred to colloquially as "herringbone" or "mackerel". symbol, vector, illustration, meteorology, climate, weather, atmosphere, sky, cloud, herringbone, mackerel, sky
