Old Crane on Frozen River
Riverbank erosion, causing soil and vegetation to collapse into river. The combination of property owners removing riverfront vegetation and passing boat wakes, both commercial and recreational, can lead to bank erosion and the collapse of soil and trees into the waterways. stream, erosion, loss,of,buffer zone, sedimentation, nutrient, pollution Asphalt production plant's waterfront depot, empty gravel barge and crane. The >300' fully loaded gravel barges are pushed up-river by tugboats to this waterfront depot where the gravel is unloaded and hot mixed to produce road asphalt. The negative riparian impacts are: 1) the prop dredging of the river by the tug pushing oversized barges, resuspending the toxic benthic sediments; 2) streambank erosion from tug wake, and 3) stormwater runoff potentially laden with toxic hydrocarbons, oils, greases and metals.
