João Coimbra is originally from Brazil where he graduated from Federal University of São João del-Rei with a B.S in Chemical Engineer. He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Analysis and Decision Making from Rice University. João previously worked in an initiative to facilitate the partnership between Chesapeake Bay and Guanabara Bay to enhance management and accelerate restoration, which included the development of a restoration plan framework and an Environmental Health Report Card for the region. He also worked with the Guanabara Bay Watershed Committee in a different set of projects in the area of sanitation, environmental education, green infrastructure and water resources management. At IAN he works on data analysis and visualization, document design, plotting spatial data and preparing maps. Some of his hobbies are photographing, drawing, cooking, travelling around, and being outdoors.
