Acidic mine tailings in an impacted stream
Acid mine tailings
Alkaline chemicals are added to mitigate acid mine tailings. When water is added to the alkaline chemicals, the exothermic (heat releasing) reaction burned through the cubitainer.
Exothermic reaction
This doser times the mechanical addition of alkaline chemicals to acidic mine tailings to mitigate the acidity.
The Doser
Acidic mine tailings are being mitigated by the addition of alkaline chemicals (white), entering the stream below the wooden structure.
Acid mine tailing mitigation
Acidic mine tailings upwell here from an underground source and flow downstream overland
Acid mine tailings headwaters
Acidic mine tailings are being mitigated by the addition of alkaline chemicals (white), entering the stream below the wooden structure.
Mitigating acid mine tailings

Mine Tailings
Acidic mine tailings flow downstream.
