Arrow arum and cattails
Arrow arum (Peltandra virginica), with cattail (Typha spp) in the background. These species are common along tidal fresh and brackish waterways. Arrow arum is also known as "tuckahoe" and was a Native American food source. This photo was taken along the upper Patuxent River during the annual Patuxent Sojourn paddle.
