Western Lake Erie Report Card Development and Production

The purpose of this project is to create an ecosystem health report card in consultation with local stakeholders to effectively measure the nutrients and water quality of western Lake Erie. In doing so, actions will be leveraged to ensure the continued health of the lake and awareness of the significance of the lake will be increased to support the livelihood and health of local communities.

This project is being done at the request of the Lake Erie Foundation, to develop an ecosystem health report card for western Lake Erie. A partnership between UMCES, Lake Erie Foundation, and local government partners provides a unique opportunity for UMCES to further implement its mission of empowering change through better science communication while assisting Lake Erie Foundation achieve its mission to sustain and protect the water of Lake Erie and to be more effective in protecting the entire lake, to provide drinkable water, recreational opportunities, and edible fish.
