Science Visualization is a semester long course that introduces students to methods that will improve their science communication and visualization skills. Students gain a practical understanding of software and techniques that are integrated into their science communication skill-set and can be used throughout their careers and beyond. The course includes three primary learning outcomes:

  1. Learn practical skills and software required to create understandable and targeted data visualizations for various audiences.

  2. Assemble data visualizations created in a report, poster, oral presentation or other compelling story-format.

  3. Critique classmates and understand theory behind good science visualization.

Science Visualizationhas been taught virtually to MEES students and also offered as a professional course, always offered as a semester long immersive learning experience. This course is next planned for Spring of 2022.
