Climate Change Resilience Index

Our goal is to develop a suite of indicators that will reflect resource resilience to impacts related to sea level rise, increased water temperature, changed precipitation patterns, and increased storm intensity and frequency. The suite of indicators will be integrated into the Chesapeake Bay Report Card. We estimate that this process will be achieved over a two-year period and will be an important evolution in the Chesapeake Bay Report Card, and for environmental reporting globally.

University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) is currently working in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to enhance the ability of agencies and local governments to enact new laws, policies, and outreach programs that will assist the State of Maryland and her citizens to adapt to a changing climate.
MD Climate Action Plan

On April 20, 2007, Governor Martin O’Malley established the Maryland Climate Change Commission charged with collectively developing an action plan to address the causes of climate change, prepare for the likely consequences and impacts of climate change to Maryland, and establish firm benchmarks and timetables for implementing the Commission’s recommendations.
