The IAN report card includes three categories of indicators: partnership satisfaction, social impacts and ecological outcomes. For partnership satisfaction, we devised a survey and asked our partners a battery of questions about their satisfaction with the co-production of products, the collaborative process and capacity-building within their organization. For social impacts, we assessed our media reach, our dissemination effectiveness, and our teaching and training.

Texas Coast Ecosystem Health Report Card

IAN staff and HRI scientists collaborated in a series of workshops in 2016 and 2018 to produce the 2019 Texas Coast Ecosystem Health Report Card. Assessing the health of the Gulf of Mexico is a complex and extensive undertaking, requiring the development of an integrated assessment/management framework and a diversity of data sets.

Gateway National Recreation Area Natural Resource Condition Assessment

The National Park Service is carrying out assessments of the natural resource condition (NRCA) for nearly 300 of the National Parks throughout the country deemed to have significant natural resources. This project, to assess the condition of Gateway National Recreation Area in New York and New Jersey, is aimed at collating and synthesizing all available data to assess current status and trend for each metric, combining these into an overall framework for each park.

Indian River Lagoon Report Card

The Marine Resource Council of East Florida, along with many partners, proposes to develop an ecosystem health report card for the Indian River Lagoon. IAN will help develop by the report card by facilitating a kickoff workshop and producing a framework document for the report card process. Future work will include data analysis, final scores and grades, and producing the report card.

The Water Institute of the Gulf: Creation of a synthesis report

This project will be to develop a 16-page, full color, graphics rich booklet for The Water Institute of the Gulf. The synthesis report will explain the key habitats of coastal Louisiana, the ecosystem services that they deliver to support coastal community resilience and how this could be enhanced.

Upper Potomac Headwaters Report Card 2015

This report card was produced in December 2015 by The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and represents a joint effort of graduate students and faculty in the Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences program at the Appalachian Laboratory in Frostburg and the Integration and Application Network. The report card provides an assessment of stream health in the Upper Potomac Headwaters region upstream of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Conowingo Impact Research

University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science has been awarded a grant from Exelon Corporation through the Department of Natural Resources to study the affect that particulates from Conowingo Reservoir have on water quality in regions affected by high flow events. This is a two-year research project that began in October of 2014, the results are highly anticipated and will play a huge roll in future management of the sediment in Conowingo Reservoir.

USGS Climate Change Research Activities Synthesis

The Department of the Interior Climate Science Centers (CSCs), and their managing organization, the National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center at the U.S. Geological Survey, have chosen the emerging climate science field of Ecological Drought as a research focus area. This project aims to conduct synthesis and dissemination of the state of knowledge, research activities, and information gaps that exist within the eight Climate Science Centers (CSC).

The Water Institute of the Gulf: Creation of conceptual diagrams

This project is to develop custom conceptual diagrams according to the needs of The Water Institute of the Gulf (TWI). Diagrams are likely to include: key ecosystem components including: marsh, bald cypress swamp, mangrove stand, oyster reef, aquatic vegetation, barrier island, and open water/base sediment.

Chesapeake Bay Tidal Water Quality Trends

2015-06-01 —

The Chesapeake Bay Program, MD Department of Natural Resources, and VA Department of Environmental Quality collaborate annually to produce bay-wide summaries of water quality trends in the tidal waters. These annual estimates at more than 150 stations for nutrients, dissolved oxygen, Secchi depth, chlorophyll a and other parameters help gauge the health of the bay and identify changes due to management actions and climate.
