This newsletter describes the results from the first workshop to develop the Everglades Report Card and provides a roadmap for the future of this project. Members of the RECOVER (REstoration COordination VERification) team met with the Integration and Application Network to begin work on the Everglades Report Card and 2019 System Status Report. This workshop, held in West Palm Beach, Florida, took a system-wide view and is the first of four workshops to create these two documents.

The Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative (CMC), as part of the Indicator Effectiveness Matrix objective, produced 12 factsheets describing 14 tidal water quality indicators. These indicators are part of the CMC's tidal water quality Quality Assurance Project Plan and Method Manuals. The factsheets are intended for nontraditional and volunteer monitoring groups to include as part of their water quality monitoring programs as education materials for their volunteers.

The Indian River Lagoon on the east coast of Florida is a biodiverse ecosystem of temperate and tropical habitats with significant aesthetic, social, and economic value. However, development pressures have been increasing for decades with 2016 being a year of record algal blooms and fish kills.

Save the Sound along with its partners produced the Long Island Sound report card. Overall, Long Island Sound health is good, but the job's not done. There is an east-west gradient from healthy water in the Eastern Long Island Sound (received a grade of A) to unhealthy water in the Western Narrows (received a grade of F). The report card compares water quality indicators (dissolved oxygen, nutrients, chlorophyll a, and water clarity) to scientifically derived thresholds or goals.

As an Indian River Lagoon report card was being prepared in a collaboration between the Marine Resource Council and IAN, a brown algal bloom led to huge numbers of dead fish and other aquatic life. This Florida ecosystem of a chain of coastal rivers and lagoons has been struggling for years under a heavy pollution load entering its waters.

This report card provides a transparent, timely, and geographically detailed assessment of Chesapeake Bay. In 2015, the report card includes five water quality indicators and two biotic indicators. In 2015, the overall grade for Chesapeake Bay is a 53%, a C. This means the Bay is in moderate health. Long term trends of each reporting region health and a fisheries index are also presented. The Coastal Georgia Ecosystem Report Card was developed through a collaborative effort between the staff at Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Resources Division, Environmental Protection Division, Wildlife Resources Division and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Integration & Application Network. This report card provides a transparent, timely, and geographically detailed assessment of Coastal Georgia.

This poster illustrates some results from work on a climate change resilience index for Chesapeake Bay. One aspect analyzed in the index was coastal wetland resilience to sea level rise. Overall, coastal wetlands currently have good resilience but under future sea level rise rates coastal wetlands will have moderate to very poor resilience.
